Here's what I mean. I'm working on an old-time pin-up piece right now, so naturally the face is of utmost importance but faces can be so frustrating sometimes. I wanted to give up on it several times and start over but I decided that I was going to push through and now it's really starting to get the look I want. This all came about by persevering and making the piece do what I wanted it to.
I really look at painting similar to sculpture. Sometimes you just gotta keep working it, massaging it, and sculpting the face until it becomes what you want. The earliest stages of a piece are the hardest, so don't give up. Bend that painting to your will
